Forthcoming Events
We try to arrange an event each month and so it is useful to keep checking this website to find out what is coming up.

Christmas Service - our Christmas Service will be on 23rd December with Carols during the service and eats after (please bring a little something towards the food - a list will be placed on the table at the back of the room for you to tick off items that you wish to bring).  We will also be holding our Christmas raffle after the service - any appropriate items that you wish to donate for the raffle, please bring along before the 23rd.

Membership - we now operate a membership system.  The cost is £3.00 per six months.  The benefits of becoming a member of the Friendship Spiritual Centre is that when we organise events members will have priority booking and at a reduced rate.  Tickets will then be open to non-members.  Other benefits will include being able to borrow books from our new library (this facility is for members only), and of course automatic invitation to our Christmas Party.

Library - we are starting up a lending library of spiritual books.  Only members of the centre will be allowed to use the library and there will be a deposit for each book taken out plus a weekly charge.  Upon return of the book the deposit will either be returned or if you should choose to take another book, then you can leave the deposit and pay a further week charge out of your deposit.  The reason for the deposit is to ensure that books are returned to the centre.  Some of the books are old and obviously we would like to ensure that other members can enjoy reading them.

Open Circle - Monday 5th January 2009 is the date for the next Open Circle at King's College Pavilion (Small Room) to be run by Shirley Birks - cost £2 per person per evening (to be held every other Monday).  Please bring your own water.

If you have any questions regarding any of the above events, please use the 'Contact Us' page and we will get back to you.

Update on Past Events

CHRISTMAS MEAL
Our Christmas Meal for members was held on Friday 5th December at The Gate.  We had a great turnout of  45 people who all seemed to have a good evening.  The food was great, the seating 'cosy' and once again we had been told we would be seated in two rows and planned the seating accordingly but when we got there it was not the case so we apologise for anyone who was not seated next to their friends but people seemed to shuffle about anyway.  It was nice to see so many of our members in a relaxed setting, enjoying the food and with the drink flowing.  It was nice that Jan and Derek could make it this year as they missed out on the festivities last year due to Derek's ill health.  Lets hope that 2009 will bring us all health and happiness.  Thank you all once again for your support throughout the year.

AURA PHOTOGRAPHY
This was held on Saturday 15th November.  We had a great turnout and was only running late for a short while (due to the photographer getting stuck in traffic).  Everyone was pleased with their 'photos' and the short reading that accompanied the photograph seemed to be very accurate according to all.  We had a range of aura colours, stick us all together and we make a very bright and colourful bunch!
The afternoon went very quickly with people purchasing from our stall whilst waiting for their turn and enjoying a cup of tea and slice of cake.  In fact everyone enjoyed it so much that they didn't want to go home and the atmosphere was more like an afternoon tea party.  Our thanks again to the photographer who did an excellent job.

ONE 2 ONE
On a lovely sunny Saturday (25th) although a bit breezy, we set up shop once again for our popular one 2 one sessions.  We were one medium down to start with and so there was a little backlog of people getting their readings but they spent their time and their money (always gratefully received) buying some of our lovely products we had for sale.  Tea/coffee/cake was served while they waited for their turn and after the mediums had eaten their lunch the remainder of the food was sampled by those waiting.  Thanks to Shirley once again for the catering, very delicious and much appreciated by all the Mediums who went back to work with their stomachs settled.  Although this is always a very busy event, we always manage to have fun and everyone seemed to enjoy their readings and just chatting to each other.  Our thanks to the mediums who gave up their Saturday to attend the event.

BACK TO NATURE
Once again this had to be cancelled due not only to rain but the boggy conditions.  It looks like we will not be holding this event this year unless we have an Indian Summer!!!  What a shame for those who were looking forward to experiencing this event.

GLASTONBURY
Were we lucky with the weather again! - Yes - what a glorious day.  Everyone arrived on time, although somewhat bleary eyed, for our day trip - some even spent the journey asleep.  Mind you that was not a bad idea as it was to be quite a hectic day.  After a short stop at a small village on route for coffee and comfort visits our coach driver took us past Stonehenge.  We had a wonderful journey - no traffic jams at all and eventually arrived at our destination on time and raring to go.  The local shops had some really wonderful things but were very expensive (especially in comparison to our "Stall").  The local inhabitants/visitors were somewhat colourful in keeping with the nature of the surroundings.  Most people had a wander through the shops and took advantage of the Tor Bus (£2.50 for as many trips as you like - not bad value).  Several of the most adventurous of our group actually climbed Tor while the remainder settled for the more calm, relaxed atmosphere of Chalice Well where you could collect the healing water, sit and meditate in the beautiful surroundings - what a spiritual place!  Others toured the Abbey and other attractions.  It really is too much to do in one day and it was decided that we really needed a weekend to benefit from such a wonderful place.  Who knows - perhaps we will do that in the future.

Our return journey was just as relaxing and our driver 'Brian' was asked if he would stop at Stonehenge so people could take photographs.  Not only did he do that, but he went a different route which meant that we were right up close to the circle of stones.  Several of us left the coach for a better view and some felt it necessary to fall on their knees and send out prayers!!!

All in all it was a wonderful day, wonderful weather and wonderful people - what more can you ask for.

TASTE OF NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE
Sunday 1st June - this event organised by Louise on behalf of John & Bev 'Friends of the Rez' was a great success.  On arrival at the Guide Hut there was an array of drums all over the kitchen (being warmed up) - apparently if they get cold they go flat.  Also on display were various Native American Indian items including moccasins, flutes, talking sticks, fans, a wonderful full headdress and much more.  The day kicked off with everyone introducing themselves which caused much laughter (you really had to be there).  Dave then played one of the many flutes they had brought with them - just as a short demonstration of the sounds made and how you don't need to 'play a tune' as such, but just let the mood take you.   John then went on to tell a couple of stories about "Why is the Crow Black" and also about butterflies - these are tales told to the Native American Children.  We then had a drumming session in which everyone was involved either banging drums or shaking rattles - it really turned out quite rythmical and very enjoyable.  More flute playing took place - very relaxing and enjoyable.  John then  passed round various items for us to look at, including a talking stick, a pipe, fans etc., he also burnt some cedar wood (devine) and some sweet grass was also passed around - what a wonderful aroma!  We then had a guided meditation (by Bev) for us to meet our animal spirit - this really was mindblowing - during the meditation Jon Bev and Dave (the third man!) walked round behind us banging drums - this really gave some real depth to the meditation and was even trance-like.  It really was such a wonderful experience that nobody wanted to return from their meditation.  All met with one or more animal spirits and we wrote down our animals on a piece of paper which was handed to Melody who by the end of the day had written for each of us the meaning of our animal.
After lunch we then set about making dreamcatchers.  This was reminicent of school days - all sat at a long table with various coloured wools, beads and feathers and of course a blank dreamcatcher ring.  Some people found this exercise really easy, others not quite so - but the results were really amazing with everyone producing a really lovely dreamcatcher.  There were a few knots and tangles which you would expect but Bev and John showed great patience - they really are very good at this.  After this relaxing (for some) exercise we had a raffle and finished the day with a further drumming session - by now everyone had lost their inhibitions and really let themselves go.

It really was a great day - something different - and over £350 was raised for the children of the Cheyenne reservation.  After listening to John explaining how Native American Indians are treated on their reservations (and off of them) it really makes you think about how a once proud nation have been forced to radically change their lifestyles, traditions etc.  Man has a lot to answer for!  Anyway - if you feel the need to experience something different, something fun and also inspiring then you can visit their website or come to the next event we arrange!  Their website is: www.yourfreespirit.net

PSYCHIC SUPPER
Friday 16th May we held our Psychic Supper at Ickenham Village Hall and with our usual chaotic style it was a great hit.  The Hall was excellent and because of the height of the ceiling it didn't sound as noisy as last year!!!

All  the mediums (with the exception of 1) found the place and really enjoyed themselves with only 2 of them seeking a little quiet for the readings, but this venue had plenty of space with extra rooms either side of the stage so they were easily catered for.  Talking of catering, we would like to give a very big 'thank you' to Shirley who did an excellent job of the catering with chicken curry, bolognaise a veggie lasagne, baked potatoes and an abundance of cheese and salad etc.,  In fact there was an abundance of everything that people could have gone back for more - an excellent job, very well done.
As is our way, after being fed it was time to begin - and that was it - everyone seemed to start at a different time, not waiting to be told to "Start" which made Jan's  job of timing all the readings very difficult - but as usual she managed marvellously.  Last year we had a bell which was rung after 15 minutes so the mediums knew they had 5 minutes in which to 'wind up' - this worked well until Keith decided to pick the bell up and give it a ring which threw everything into chaos.  Anyway that's why people enjoy our meetings - you never know what's going to happen next!
Everyone seemed pleased with their readings and there were plenty of tears, with tissues being handed around liberally but there was also plenty of laughter.  The 7 mediums had to work a little harder to cater for the one missing medium but they all took on the extra work without hesitation.  We had one medium where this was their 'first' psychic supper and although a little nervous she went down a storm with the people on her table.  We also had another medium (with 'L' plates) who accompanied Sandra Atherist for the experience and who gave a few Tarot readings for those who wanted them, again people seemed to enjoy their messages.
The quiz which 'in theory' is supposed to keep people busy and quiet while they wait for their reading to take place was the cause of most of the noise and once again people worked as a table instead of individually - but hey! who cares.  The quiz was won by Brenda (I have a sneaking suspicion that she attends pub quizes up and down the country) but she did share the winnings (you were refunded your ticket money) with her table.  The raffle managed to full in a few quid - there was plenty of 'bottles' as prizes and thanks to Wendy - our ticket seller - what would we do without her!  I think she could sell snow to Eskimos - a true star at all our our events.
Will we have another one? most certainly.  The first supper we had fish and chips, this one was catered for with lovely hot food - what next?  a packed lunch perhaps - you will have to wait and see.  Many manys thanks for all those who made this a really enjoyable evening.

PSYCHIC AWARENESS WORKSHOP
The Psychic Awareness Workship was held on Saturday 12th April - we had a really good turnout and had a wonderful time.  Even those with a little experience really enjoyed themselves.  On the agenda we had working with colours, ribbon reading, psychic drawing, psychometry and tarot cards.  We started the day a little late but still managed to work through everything, stopping only shortly for coffee break in the morning, we had half hour for lunch and then back to it again before stopping for a five minute cup of tea in the afternoon.  Newcomers were amazed at how they managed to 'tune in' and even give messages, they were equally stunned when reading the cards at how they seemed to follow on from each other, giving a really good reading.  All too soon the day came to an end.  We would all like to thank Shirley Birks for once again giving up her Saturday to come and enlighten us all, thank you Shirley.  We are all looking forward to her next workshop - she doesn't even know it yet, but I'm sure we will be able to coax another workshop out of her.
HEALING WORKSHOP
The Healing Workshop held on 29th April with Sue and Shirley at the Guide Hut, Manor Farm was a great success.  We had 22 people attend the workshop and hopefully left having benefited from the superb teaching of both Sue and Shirley.  Everyone was so engrossed in what they were doing we were late breaking for refreshments and then before we knew where we were it was lunchtime.  The afternoon carried on in the same swing climaxing (after another cup of tea) with pyramid healing - which was a sight to see.  Everybody seemed to leave the event totally refreshed, relaxed and on a high.  These events are not only so much fun but a great learning experience too, even for those who have knowledge of healing etc.,  Lets hope our next workshop is as successful.

EASTER SERVICE
The service went down very well, with the majority of people attending bringing food - there was certainly plenty to go around and all very tasty indeed.  The raffle was also a big success and the collection money and raffle money from the evening went to support a cancer hospice that David Chapman's church is raising money for.  David was very touched by the generosity of the Centre and said that all monies were gratefully received and would benefit the hospice enormously.  David's wife Maureen is still very sick but is hanging on in there and is in all our thoughts and prayers.

CHRISTMAS MEAL
We celebrated Christmas by organising a meal at The Plough in Ruislip.  Due to the amount of people attending we had to be split but it didn't spoil the evening.  The raucus laughter that rang about the room would have perplexed other diners had they known the interest we all shared!  The meals were delivered (most people received the correct order) and the couple who didn't weren't too bothered by then anyway.  An evening of fun and laughter and good food - what more could you wish for.  The meal was subsidised by us as a way of thanking all those regular supporters who show up week after week.  Unfotunately there were a few who could not make it which made our lives a little easier as were were squeezing people in as tight as we could.  Thank you all once again for your loyal support and for making Tuesday evenings a fun place to be.

AURA PHOTOGRAPHY
This took place on Saturday 24th November, we had a couple of no-shows which was a shame but everyone seemed very pleased with their results.  For those who had their aura photographed last year they noticed the changes in their auras which accompanied changes in their lives which they recognised.  For those who had never had it done before, after realising that they were not going to be electrocuted or get a shock from the handset they relaxed and enjoyed the experience and were amazed at how accurate the readings were.  Refreshments were served and people could browse our stall while waiting for their turn.  All in all it was a very successful day.

AN EVENING OF TRANCE/TRANSFIGURATION WITH JAY LOVE
Jay managed to find us with the aid of his SatNav and partner and got ready to give us a brilliant demonstration of transfiguration with the help of his guide.  The change when his guide was coming through was really something, he was very funny and enjoyed a bit of banter with the audience.  The transfigurations that took place were equally marvelous and thrilled everyone, some of the most noticeable were the changes in his hands and feet which really were amazing.  Everyone enjoyed the evening and those who received messages were enthralled and pleased.   This enjoyable evening was rounded off with refreshments and cakes.  Both Jay and Rob enjoyed themselves and hoped that their experience was shared with everyone attending and they were assured that it was.

BACK TO NATURE DAY
We had a wonderful Saturday afternoon in Mad Bess Woods, Ruislip on Saturday 28th August 2007 with David Chapman coming along to give us some readings.  The weather, once again, was gorgeous and we were protected from the heat of the sun with the shade of the trees.  There were in all 18 people plus one puppy on the day.  The gathering took place in wonderful surroundings, we all had a picnic which was very enjoyable with the resident puppy cleaning up after the cream cakes.  David Chapman had never done anything like this before and was very excited.  He gave messages to everyone present including three people who had never been to a spiritualist before.  The whole event was enjoyed by everyone present and it was urged that we repeat the event next year.  Once again we were so lucky with the weather as it had rained non-stop for 2 weeks prior to this day.  I really do think someone is looking after us!

DAY TRIP
On the first sunny day for weeks (Saturday 28th July) we set off in a luxury coach to the Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary in Shere - what a wonderful relaxing place.  Almost everyone on the coach booked in for healing and we took up most of the morning appointments.  The whole place is tranquil, serene and relaxing with beautiful walks and amazing scenery.  The healing was excellent with appointments lasting up to 15 minutes, the system they used worked well and run to time (or not far off).  Even without healing you couldn't help but feel relaxed and peaceful in such a beautiful place.  There were a few stalls in the grounds plus a refreshment marquee and raffles (our people managed to win quite a few of the raffle prizes).  We would highly recommend anyone wishing to attend this sanctuary and especially next year's open day.

ONE 2 ONE DAY
This event happened on 29th May, a glorious sunny day after a week of rain.  We had six mediums, Alf and Dot, Maggie Mason, Dave Eckett, Jenny Docherty and Debbie Cartwright who worked really hard throughout the day giving six 30 minute readings each.  We broke for lunch half way through which was provided by Shirley and very much appreciated.  Everyone who had readings were completely satisfied and some were even lost for words.  The mediums themselves had a thoroughly good time and all said they would love to do it again.  For those who attended for readings we also had our stall open and managed to sell a fair amount which meant that the day was a success all round.

WORKSHOP
On 14 April Our Spiritual Workshop took place run by Shirley Birks at the Guide Hut, Manor Farm.  The weather was gorgeous and there was an air of summer about us as we settled down to a day of learning.  As usual Shirley took us through a day of understanding chakras and auras, meditation to meet guide/doorkeeper, working with flowers and cards and working with your guides.  The day was broken by a swift tea/coffee break mid morning followed by lunch in the sunshine.  As always with Shirley's all day workshops the event was over much too soon and I know everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and went away having learned a great deal more than they envisaged.  All those who attended would like to thank Shirley for her time and knowledge and for making the day not only a learning experience but also a fun experience.

PSYCHIC SUPPER
On 2nd March we held our first Psychic Supper - this was a great success, the six mediums attending thoroughly enjoyed themselves along with everyone else.  The supper consisted of fish/chicken and chips followed by tea and cake.  There was a quiz on the night which managed to keep people occupied and gave rise to a little cheating along the line somewhere.  It was quite a noisy experience but the mediums managed and responded with remarkable readings for everyone.  The evening was such a success that we are being badgered to repeat this event.  We have decided that we could hopefully arrange a further Psychic Supper later in the year and maybe even manage to improve on our first.

AURA PHOTOGRAPHY
In February we had an Aura Photographer spend a Saturday with us and was quickly fully booked.  People were pleased with their results and amazed at the description and information that accompanied the photograph.
